Chiltern Global Achieves ISO 45001: Protecting the People Behind the Products
Chiltern Global is proud to announce that we have achieved ISO 45001 certification with no minor or major nonconformities (NCR’s). This is the internationally recognised standard for occupational health and safety management systems.
For us, this is more than a certificate but a reflection of how we operate as business: with discipline, accountability and care at every stage.
The equipment we design, manufacture and supply is used by people operating in demanding environments: police forces, prison services, military, security professionals, medical responders and government organisations. Their work relies on equipment that is dependable, traceable and fit for purpose.
When manufacturing equipment that protects people’s lives, it is paramount that health and safety is always at the forefront. Behind every product, project and shipment is another responsibility that matters just as much: the safety and wellbeing of the people who make that work possible.
What is ISO 45001?
ISO 45001 is the global standard for occupational health and safety management, it gives organisations a structured way to identify workplace hazards, manage risk, protect workers and continually improve safety performance.
It applies to businesses of every size and sector, but it is especially relevant in complex environments where processes, people, suppliers, materials and operational demands all need to be carefully managed.
For Chiltern Global, ISO 45001 is highly relevant. Our work spans design support, product development, assembly, supplier coordination, quality checks, logistics and contract delivery. Each stage depends on clear systems, competent people and controlled processes.
ISO 45001 helps ensure that health and safety is treated in a way that embeds safety into how an organisation plans, works, reviews and improves.
Why ISO 45001 matters in defence, police and security manufacturing?
The defence, police, and security sectors are built on trust.
Customers need confidence that their suppliers can meet strict operational requirements, protect sensitive information, manage complex supply chains and deliver consistent results under pressure. That confidence is built through systems, evidence, independent assessment and continuous improvement.
Chiltern Global already holds a strong portfolio of certificates and accreditations, including ISO 9001 for quality management, ISO 14001 for environmental management, JOSCAR registration and Cyber Essentials Plus. ISO 45001 strengthens that framework by adding an independent recognised health and safety management system into the way we operate.
It matters because good health and safety is not just about avoiding incidents. It supports:
- better planning
- clearer responsibilities
- more consistent processes
- improved employee engagement
- stronger supplier and contractor oversight
- greater customer confidence
- more resilient project delivery
What this certificate means for Chiltern Global?
Achieving ISO 45001 has given us the opportunity to look closely at how health and safety is applied through our business.
It has encouraged us to examine not only the risks that are obvious, but the ones that can emerge through everyday working patterns: how information is shared, how tasks are planned, how suppliers are managed, how changes are communicated, and how lessons are captured when something can be improved.
We have continued to strengthen the practical foundations of health and safety across the business. This has included providing staff with first aid training, enhancing our internal health and safety procedures, increasing fire awareness, and reviewing and updating the policies that support these areas. These steps help ensure that safety remains visible, understood and actively managed throughout our day-to-day operations.
ISO 45001 supports our wider approach to structured, responsible manufacturing. Our processes already place strong emphasis on quality control, traceability, supervision and reliable delivery. This certificate reinforces that same mindset through a health and safety lens.
For Chiltern Global, responsible manufacturing means more than meeting a specification. It means working safely, thinking carefully, improving continuously and building trust through the way we operate.
As we continue to support police, military, prison, security, medical and government organisations around the world, ISO 45001 will help guide how we protect our people, strengthen our processes and deliver with confidence.
