THE CAMLOCK BATON IS NOT AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. PLEACE CONTACT CHILTERN GLOBAL FOR MORE INFORMATION

The Camlock baton is a top end police baton and is used by many UK police forces including the Metropolitan Police and is available in four sizes, 16inch, 21inch, 24inch and 26inch. It can be used for standard patrol duties or public order use. Camlock is compliant with EU Technical Directive 04-2006 – Police requirements on the design and testing of long and short batons. This is the only positive lock baton in the UK tested to these exacting standards

The baton is made from hardened steel and has a steel end tip that, whilst not user removable, can be removed and replaced if needed. The end tip is not required to be larger or heavier as the Camlock is designed not to need such a power tip as found on other inferior batons. Camlock batons are slightly wider, and the baton tubes are thicker and heavier than other batons. This gives the baton much more kinetic energy during a strike. The baton performs much like a pendulum in that the more weight there is further from the pivot point (the shoulder in this case) the more momentum the baton has, thus given a more effective strike. Police testing showed that Camlock delivered 50% more strike power than any other baton tested.

The baton handles are coated in a high grip rubberised foam material that provides excellent grip. The handle end ring performs in a similar method to the ‘Hindi Cap’ of other batons but in this case the ring can rotate for better function and is also removable for replacement should it become damaged. This is achieved without any tools and takes seconds to perform.

The baton is opened and racked directly from the holster my means of a special tip lock part in the holster that grips the steel tip while the baton is holstered. This allows the user to draw the baton and the tip lock holds the tip in place sufficiently to cause the baton to open whilst being drawn. Once at full draw the baton comes free of the top lock and is fully racked and locked ready for the user to make an immediate strike if necessary. The baton can be inserted into the holster not into the tip lock arms if the user needs to draw the baton in a closed state. The user can then rack the baton gently by pulling the baton open or forcibly by performing a racking motion. Closing is achieved by the pressing of the button at the end of the handle which allows the baton to collapse into a closed state.

The metal tubes of a Camlock baton do not ever touch each other during opening, closing or during use. The smooth sliding mechanism is achieved by synthetic collars inside the baton that prevent any metal-on-metal contact. Thus, there is no chafing or scratching of the baton tubes and no ‘rattle’ of the tubes when shaken as in other inferior batons.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CAMLOCK BATON REQUIRES NO USER MAINTENANCE AND NO ATTEMPT SHOULD BE MADE TO OPEN OR INTERFERE WITH THE BATON WORKINGS.
